RESEARCH OVERVIEW

I am currently a graduate student in the Department of Biomathematics at UCLA, advised by Marc Suchard.

My dissertation research is on statistical inference for branching processes related to genetics, evolution, and ecology. I plan to graduate in Spring or Summer 2012, and I'm looking for an academic job in statistics, biostatistics, computational biology, or bioinformatics.

My methodological and theoretical interests are:

  • Inference for stochastic processes
  • Computational statistics
  • Nonparametric inference
  • Optimization
  • Algorithms
  • Parallel computing / GPUs
  • Machine learning

My work has practical applications in many fields, including:

  • Genetics
  • Evolution
  • Infectious diseases
  • Public health
  • Finance
